Volcanic Activity

After we left quito, the four of us headed to Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world. We drove most of the way to the top, then got out of the car and hiked a bit (very difficult to do at that altitude--4800 meters) until we were almost at the snowcapped part of the mountain. Cotopaxi was absolutely beautiful. Here are pictures of us on our way to Cotopaxi, the mountain itself, and the four of us on Cotopaxi.

After Cotopaxi, we went to Papallacta, to enjoy volcanic activity in a different way. Papallacta is honestly one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Our hotel, nestled between two volcanos, provides natural hotsprings in which one can relax day or night. We basically had our own hotspring outside our room. As you can see from the pictures below, the altitude at Papallacta is fairly high (yes, those are clouds). The hotsprings basically feel like a hot tub, but there is nothing like sitting in natural hotsprings surrounded by mountains in every direction. If I ever have the time again, Papallacta is definitely a place I would revisit.
